" For 1974, Ford had revised the Capri RS extensively in order to catch up with BMW. The new 3.4-liter Cosworth-engine featured 4-valve technology and had an output of 415 bhp. At the rear, a very large transverse spoiler added much needed downforce.

Due to the 1973 energy crisis only a few select ETC and DRM (German Racing Championship) events were entered. Ford's driver lineup included such names as Stommelen, Hezemans, Lauda, Ludwig, Heyer, Glemser and Mass. Various race wins in 1974 and 1975 helped Hans Heyer to win the '74 drivers' title in ETC whereas Klaus Ludwig became '75 vice-champion in the German DRM series.
During the Eifelrennen at the Nuerburgring in 1974 Rolf Stommelen won the Division I DRM race.
