" The current SL version is available to the market since 2001. The regular spec version has up to 500 break horse power. The engineers from the Mercedes Benz subsidiary company AMG, located in Afalterbach, have realized up to 612 break horse power. New was the vario roof for the roadster, which transferred the advantages of a coupé over to the convertible.
Until today the SL sold well over 140.000 units. In order to make sure that the legend will not be forgotten, Mercedes-Benz has edited many things. Indeed it is called a new generation, but the labelling of the production series has not changed and it is still called R 230."
