"The Continental Flying Spur is the second production series directed by Volkswagen and it is built in the transparent factory in Dresden. As a result the Continental Flying Spur and the Continental GT are closely related to the VW Phaeton. Largely, it could be considered a rebadged Volkswagen Phaeton with a different styling and a more powerful engine, most of the technical components being identical to those on the Phaeton. Both Bentley cars received a stronger engine and a high class interior, the Flying Spur even a larger wheelbase in order to justify the surcharge of round about 50 % in comparison to the Phaeton.
The name Flying Spur is deflected form the family coat of arms of the carriage and car body manufacturer Mulliner, which refined the first Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars and was eventually bought in 1959. Bedsides the emblem shows a winged spur."
